Chapter 02
Cloud API vs. On-Premise API — which Waaru uses.
Meta deprecated the on-premise WhatsApp Business API in October 2025 in favour of the Cloud API. Waaru runs on the Cloud API exclusively — better deliverability, no infrastructure to host, and immediate access to new Meta features like WhatsApp Native Flows, payments, and the latest template categories.
Meta publishes a per-conversation rate that varies by category (marketing, service, utility, authentication) and recipient country. Waaru passes Meta's rate through at cost. The Waaru fee is flat per month. That's your invoice.
For an Indian D2C brand sending 20,000 marketing conversations a month, even a small per-message gap between another platform's rate and Meta's rate compounds into roughly the cost of the Growth plan itself.
