Waaru
Mid-flow AI injection

Handle unexpected WhatsApp replies with AI.

When a customer's reply doesn't match any branch in the active flow, most bots send 'sorry, I didn't understand'. Waaru detects the mismatch, hands the message to the AI, the AI answers from your Company Brain, and the flow resumes at the right point. The customer never sees a mode switch.

Answer the detour. Resume the journey.

See an unexpected hotel-policy question leave the booking flow, use approved context, and return to the next required booking step.

The customer gets an answer, then returns to the exact workflow step.

Detects when the flow can no longer continue.

Every flow node has an implicit no-match branch. Standard builders treat that branch as 'send a fallback message and re-ask'. Waaru routes it to the AI before the user sees an error.

Handles the unexpected using your knowledge base.

The AI uses the same Company Brain as the main agent - FAQs, rate cards, policies, product docs. It doesn't invent. It answers what it knows and asks a clarifying question when it doesn't.

Resumes the flow exactly where it left off.

Once the off-script moment is resolved, the conversation continues down the original flow path. Booking flows complete. Lead forms get filled. Orders get placed.

Always on, every node, no configuration.

Mid-flow AI is not a mode you switch on. It is always watching. You don't add a no-match handler to every node - it's enforced platform-wide.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Do I need to configure mid-flow AI on each flow?

No - it's on by default platform-wide. Every flow node falls back to AI when the customer's reply doesn't match an expected branch.

What if the AI also can't answer the off-script question?

The AI says so plainly and either asks a clarifying question or escalates to the team inbox with full context. The conversation never dies on a generic error.

Does this work with WhatsApp Native Flows (in-chat forms)?

Yes - if a customer messages outside the active form, the AI handles the side-question without closing the form. They can finish the form afterward.

Is this what you call 'AI governance'?

Yes - mid-flow AI is the most-tested behaviour of Waaru's AI governance layer. The governance layer is the AI watching the whole conversation; mid-flow injection is the practical effect.
