Understand optional AI and MCP availability

Separate the current self-service WhatsApp platform guides from optional AI and MCP setup, with free platform access and bring-your-own-AI status explained.

Reviewed

The non-AI platform is free. AI features are optional and pay as you go. Meta messaging charges remain separate. You can set up workflows and the shared Inbox without connecting an AI provider.

What you can set up with these guides

The documented self-service dashboard covers Logic Flows, Automation flows, team conversations, connected apps and the Developer API. Follow those task guides for the controls and results available in the current dashboard.

AI-agent configuration, knowledge-source setup and MCP client connection do not have a self-service setup path in this documented dashboard version. A product page describing those capabilities does not provide a working configuration procedure for your workspace.

Before depending on an optional capability

Confirm that the capability is enabled in your workspace and obtain the instructions for that release. Check the permitted actions, information sources, human handoff and applicable AI rate and billing unit before using it for customer work.

Do not guess an MCP server address or paste a model-provider credential into an unrelated integration or Developer API field. Use a release-specific setup guide when the relevant controls become available.

Bring your own AI is work in progress and is not available yet. There is no published availability date in these guides.

You can prepare the operating requirements now: define the customer task, keep business answers current and identify the receiving person for exceptions. The AI-agent testing guide is a planning worksheet, not evidence that a runtime has been enabled.
