Understand the Waaru dashboard
Learn how the Waaru dashboard separates daily operations, WhatsApp setup, settings, and team access. Find simple definitions of common WhatsApp and workflow terms.
Reviewed
The dashboard separates daily WhatsApp work from configuration. Use the main sidebar for conversations, campaigns, audiences, workflows, and numbers. Use Settings for personal preferences and workspace administration.
Common terms
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Workspace | Your team’s shared account for contacts, conversations, and settings. |
| Contact | A person whose phone number and details are stored in your workspace. |
| Inbound message | A message a customer sends to your business. Outbound means a message your business sends. |
| Customer-service window | The 24 hours after a customer’s most recent message, when you can send an eligible free-form reply. |
| Template | A message format submitted to Meta for approval, with spaces for details such as a customer’s name. |
| Broadcast | A campaign that sends an approved template to selected contacts who can be messaged. |
| Segment | A group of contacts. A static segment is a saved list; a dynamic segment uses rules to find matching contacts. |
| Trigger | The message, schedule, or event that starts a workflow. |
| Node | One step in a visual workflow, such as asking a question or sending a reply. |
| Handoff | Passing a conversation from a workflow to a teammate. |

Main navigation
The sidebar groups work by purpose:
- Operate contains Dashboard, Inbox, Chat history, and SLO operational reporting.
- Automate contains Logic Flows, Automation flows, Templates, and Broadcasts.
- Audience contains Contacts and Segments.
- Setup contains Numbers and WhatsApp links.
- Settings contains account, workspace, inbox, safety, integration, and developer controls.
The search control opens a shortcut menu for finding pages. Use it when you know the destination but do not want to scan the sidebar.
Locked and hidden pages
A lock beside a navigation item means the workspace needs a connected WhatsApp number before that area can be used. Selecting the item takes you to Numbers instead of opening a partially working page.
Role restrictions work differently. A page that does not apply to your role may be hidden altogether. For example, a Support agent works in assigned conversations, while an Admin can also manage members, workspace settings, and billing preferences.
Setup progress
New workspaces receive a setup panel based on current workspace data. It identifies the next permitted action among number connection, contacts, templates, Logic Flows, and broadcasts. Completed steps stay in a compact detail view and the setup panel disappears when the sequence is complete.
If your role cannot perform the next step, the panel explains which role is needed. Ask the workspace Admin to complete the action or update your role. Do not share an Admin account to bypass access controls.
Loading and retry behavior
A page may show placeholder shapes while its data loads. Later refreshes keep existing data visible. A section-level error means the affected data could not load; use its Try again action without leaving the page. If the dashboard reports a broader service problem, loaded data stays visible while the recovery check runs.
Find the right settings and help
Use operational reports for Dashboard and SLO definitions. Manage account and workspace details, policy review, safety controls, and billing preferences separately. Open Help and support for Waaru Care.
