Create direct WhatsApp links

Create, copy, update, and retire direct wa.me links with optional prefilled text for a connected WhatsApp number in Waaru.

Reviewed

WhatsApp links open a conversation with one exact connected number. Waaru stores a name and optional prefilled message, then gives you the direct wa.me URL.

  1. Open WhatsApp links.
  2. Select New link.
  3. Choose the connected WhatsApp number.
  4. Enter an internal name that describes where the link will be used.
  5. Optionally add the message customers should see in their composer.
  6. Save and copy the resulting URL.

Test the link on a phone before publishing it. Prefilled text remains editable by the customer and does not count as an inbound message until they send it.

Waaru does not place a tracking redirect in front of the URL. The copied wa.me link points directly to WhatsApp. If you delete the Waaru record, copies of the direct URL can still work because the destination number and text remain in the URL.

If the linked number is disconnected, the record is unavailable for normal workspace use until that same number is connected again. Editing the record does not update old copies already printed or shared.

Use distinct link names for a store, page, campaign, or desk so the team can manage their origins. Do not treat the link itself as proof of consent to send future marketing messages.
