Configure manual and automatic broadcast retries
Choose retargeting mode, attempt and interval limits, and review retry drafts, and understand when automatic retries can send.
Reviewed
Broadcast retargeting sends another attempt to recipients whose earlier result allows a retry. It does not erase customer opt-outs, provider restrictions or current template and number checks.
A settled outcome is a result that is ready to be evaluated for retrying, rather than still waiting for delivery updates. A cooldown is a required waiting period before another attempt.
Choose the mode
The broadcast wizard offers three modes:
| Mode | What happens |
|---|---|
| Off | No configured automatic retry process. |
| Create drafts manually | You select recipients who can be retried and create a retarget draft for review and separate publication. |
| Retry automatically | Eligible settled failures can be retried under the configured limits and current safety checks. |
Set Maximum attempts from 1 to 3 and Minimum interval from 1 to 720 hours where the selected mode uses them. The interval does not override a longer applicable provider cooldown.
Create a manual retarget draft
- Open the original broadcast and its retargeting controls.
- Wait until the earlier results are settled and ready.
- Review eligible recipients and exclusions.
- Choose the permitted template and select Create retarget draft.
- Review the new draft's number, audience, variables, consent and schedule.
- Publish the draft separately when the review is complete.
A generated draft is not a completed resend. Read its own delivery record after publication.
Understand automatic retry checks
Automatic processing uses the exact original template and waits for the applicable settlement, validity, interval and provider cooldown conditions. A changed or unavailable template stops automatic retrying. The current attempt limit and recipient eligibility still apply.
A contact who opted out or has a relevant sending restriction must not be treated as an ordinary retry candidate. Do not clone a campaign simply to bypass an exclusion or to retry before a cooldown ends.
Check the generated campaign and recipient outcomes before concluding that a retry was accepted for sending or delivered. Queued or provider-accepted work may still be pending, and an uncertain result needs investigation before another send.
