Review a contact's chat history

Use Waaru Chat history to review recorded WhatsApp messages, broadcasts, workflow activity, delivery states, and conversation sessions for a contact.

Reviewed

Use Chat history when you need the full record for a contact and WhatsApp number. Unlike the Inbox, this view is not limited to the active working session.

Find the contact

  1. Open Chat history from the sidebar.
  2. Search for the contact shown in the workspace.
  3. Select the contact and WhatsApp number combination.
  4. Scroll through the recorded timeline.

The timeline can include customer and team messages, message templates, broadcasts, Logic Flow output, Automation activity, delivery states, and session boundaries. The source label helps explain why a message exists without changing the familiar incoming and outgoing direction.

Inbox session and full history

The page may show that there is no active Inbox session even though historical messages exist. That means the contact has a record, but no current conversation is open for team handling on that number.

Use the Inbox link when the contact has an active session that your role can access. Use Chat history for investigation, audit, and context before changing a contact or campaign.

Delivery states

Provider acceptance means the message was submitted, not necessarily delivered or read. Later status events update the recorded outcome when they arrive. A missing final state should not be treated as proof that the customer received the message.

Access and media

The same workspace, role, and number restrictions apply to chat history. Media downloads use short-lived private access. If a file has expired under the workspace retention policy, the message record may remain while the original media is no longer available.

Next: Manage contacts or return to Conversations.
