MCP authoring tools
Review the tools that edit templates, control campaigns or author workflows.
Reviewed
These tools follow your role, allowed numbers and granted permissions. Start with MCP setup and the MCP tools reference for connection, audience and messaging tools.
Edit template definitions
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
preview_template_update | Review a complete replacement of an existing template definition. |
confirm_template_update | Submit the unchanged replacement after explicit approval. |
An edit affects the template shared by every number in its WhatsApp business account and may remove its approval. It requires unrestricted number access. Create and delete templates in the dashboard; MCP does not expose those operations.
Manage API keys, number handling, webhooks and signing secrets in the dashboard. The REST API reference describes the separate API-key surface.
The following workflow and campaign-control additions are planned for the next release. They appear only after the environment upgrade and permission activation. Optional choices start unchecked on your first connection. Drafts stay inactive; publication and activation have separate permission choices and reviews.
Pause and cancel broadcasts
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
preview_campaign_pause | Review pausing a queued or running campaign. |
confirm_campaign_pause | Apply the unchanged pause after approval. |
preview_campaign_cancel | Review cancelling remaining delivery. |
confirm_campaign_cancel | Apply the unchanged cancellation after approval. |
Accepted or in-flight messages cannot be recalled. Scheduled campaigns require cancellation rather than pause. A changed campaign requires a new review.
Read Logic Flows
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
list_logic_flows | List sanitized flow summaries and revision markers. |
get_logic_flow | Read flow state and node kinds without private literal configuration. |
get_logic_flow_authoring_catalog | Discover supported starters, native node schemas, WhatsApp accounts and teams. |
validate_logic_flow_draft | Compile the draft and check cached resources without running it. |
Save inactive drafts for Logic Flows
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
create_logic_flow_draft | Save an inactive keyword reply or team handoff starter. |
update_logic_flow_draft | Update an untouched MCP-created draft using exact revisions. |
Native edits, unsupported nodes or changed number assignments require the dashboard editor. A sanitized read is never a replacement graph.
Publish reviewed versions of Logic Flows
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
preview_logic_flow_publish | Review the exact graph and resources for publication. |
confirm_logic_flow_publish | Publish that version while keeping it inactive. |
Activate reviewed versions of Logic Flows
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
preview_logic_flow_activation | Review the published flow and exact connected numbers. |
confirm_logic_flow_activation | Activate the unchanged reviewed selection after approval. |
Numbers must already use Waaru Logic Flows. These tools never change your inbound handler or replace another live flow. Workflow setup requires access to all workspace numbers.
Read Automations
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
list_automations | List sanitized Automation summaries and revisions. |
get_automation | Read publication state and node kinds without credentials or graph literals. |
get_automation_authoring_catalog | Discover registered events, starter schemas and typed connected-app actions. |
simulate_automation_draft | Run a bounded synthetic fixture simulation with no live side effects. |
Fixture results do not prove provider success. Missing fixture paths remain incomplete; no real messages, contacts, runs, timers or jobs are created.
Save inactive drafts for Automations
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
create_automation_draft | Save an inactive platform-event/contact-update or scheduled-app-action starter. |
update_automation_draft | Save an explicitly supplied native canvas to an untouched MCP-created draft. |
Platform events use the actual registered event names. Contact updates target one explicitly chosen contact and supported built-in fields; they do not replace custom attributes. Provider connection setup stays in the dashboard.
Publish reviewed versions of Automations
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
preview_automation_publish | Review every trigger and possible action in the exact draft. |
confirm_automation_publish | Publish that draft version with triggers disabled. |
Activate reviewed versions of Automations
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
preview_automation_activation | Review enabling one exact published version and its current resources. |
confirm_automation_activation | Enable the unchanged reviewed version after approval. |
Activation can enable contact changes or connected-app actions. Reviews last five minutes and require unchanged permissions, revisions and resources. Retry the same preview ID after an uncertain confirmation response.
